A disintegrin, whose sequence is derived from the venom of the viper, Echis carinatus. It is an inhibitor of both integrin-dependent cell adhesion and platelet aggregation, preventing blood coagulation. Echistatin also contains the Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) sequence.
