Tremorgenic mycotoxin. Verruculogen is a neurotoxin that inhibits the M phase of the mammalian cell cycle and decreases GABA levels in CNS. Tremogenic doses of verruculogen increase the number and decrease the affinity of DHP receptors in rat cortex. It is potent inhibitors of Ca2+-activated K+ (maxi K) channels.
