Mammalian calmodulin isolated from porcine brain is suitable for applications requiring active pure calmodulin. SH GROUP/Protein Ratio: Calmodulin conjugated with SPDP (succinimidyl-3-(2-pyridyldithio)propionate); 2.2 protected SH groups per molecule of calmodulin. Activity: 35,000 units per mg protein. One unit will stimulate 0.01 unit of 3:5-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase in a 3 mL reaction volume at pH 7.5 and 30°C, to 50% of the maximum activity of the enzyme when saturated with CaM in the presence of 100M Ca2+. UV Analysis: Absorbance 276 nm of a 1 mg per mL in Milli-Q water, 0.18.
