(1S,3R)-homo-ACPD is the active isomer of trans-1,2-homo-ACPD. It is a selective metabotropic agonist. Systemic administration of (1S,3R)-homo-ACPD produced dose-dependent convulsions. Highly selective agonist for group ii mGluRs and has no effect on ionotropic excitatory amino acid receptors. (1S,3R)-homo-ACPD are the first agonist to show selectivity for mGlu receptors over iGlu receptors. (1S,3R)-homo-ACPD has been extensively used as a template to design mGlu receptor ligand. It is soluble in water.
