Cesium chloride has been used for density gradient centrifugation and for fractionation of nucleic acids, ribosomal subunits, proteins, glycoproteins, and viruses, as well as preparation of other caesium compounds, evacuation of radio tubes (positive ions supplied at surface of filament) fluorescent screens, and as a contrast medium.
