Description
The ViPrimePLUS Ureaplasa urealyticum qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Ureaplasma urealyticum genomes in clinical samples (e.g. genital swabs or fluids).
Ureaplasma urealyticum is one of the smallest bacterium and lack of cell wall. It is found in 70% of the sexually active individuals and usually present as normal commensal flora in the reproductive tract (especially women) without causing problems. However, opportunistic infection in immuno-weakened person may result in non-specific urethritis and sterile pyuria. It is also associated with infertility problems in both women and men. Congenital infection in neonates has pointed to the premature births and renders the babies more prone to pneumoniae and meningitis. Prolonged infection without treatment may spread the infection to the central nervous system. Treatment is relatively straight forward by prescribing antibiotics.
