Description
The ViPrimePLUS Zika Virus RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Zika Virus genome in clinical samples (e.g. blood, serum, urine).
Zika virus is a type of Flaviviridae virus that is transmitted via Aedes species mosquito bites. Zika virus is an infectious disease which has the potential to spread to new areas where Aedes mosquito vector is present. In humans, Zika virus causes Zika disease or Zika fever. It is related to dengue, yellow fever, West Nile and Japanese encephalitis as well as viruses that are members of Flaviviridae virus family. Some people infected do not develop any symptoms, but among those who are infected, the disease is usually mild with symptoms such as mild headaches, maculopapular rash, fever, malaise, conjunctivitis, and arthralgia. The symptoms normally last between 2 and 7 days.
