Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Bocavirus qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Bocavirus genomes in clinical samples (e.g. nasopharyngeal aspirates, serum and stools).
Human Bocavirus (HBoV) is a newly described single-stranded DNA parvovirus, which is found in the upper and lower respiratory tract of young children with respiratory symptoms. Several studies suggest that the human Bocavirus causes acute lower respiratory tract disease such as acute wheezing and gastrointestinal infection among children. There are 4 genetically distinct human Bocavirus that have been identified so far. HBoV 1 is the primary cause of respiratory symptoms, while HboV2 plays a role in acute gastroenteritis. HBoV3 and HBoV4 are detected in stool samples in low titer, however their roles are undefined. Transmission of the virus is through contact with infected respiratory droplets and fecal-oral route.
