Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Coronavirus Group 2a RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Coronavirus Group 2a genome in clinical samples (e.g. throat swab, nasopharyngeal aspirates and stool).
Coronavirus family represents a large collection of viruses. These single-stranded RNA viruses are divided into groups and subgroups based on their genomic make-up. The human health-concerned coronaviruses include the group 1b Human Coronavirus NL63 and 229E, group 2a Human Coronavirus OC43 and Coronavirus HKU1 and group 2b SARS virus. The infections will result in respiratory illnesses such as common cold, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and gastrointestinal diseases. The rest of the coronaviruses are isolated from bat, bovine, porcine, feline or avian. The emergence of a novel coronavirus in the Middle East region recently has gained the world's attention due to its epidemic potential, for example SARS outbreaks in 2002.
