Description
The ViPrimePLUS Chlamydiaceae (all species) qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of all species of Chlamydiaceae genome in clinical samples (e.g. blood, respiratory fluids and swabs).
Chlamydiaceae is a group of Gram negative, rod-shaped bacteria, which consists of two genera, i.e. Chlamydia and Chlamydophila. The genus Chlamydia contains three species: Chlamydia muridarum, C. suis and C. trachomatis. The latter of which infects humans while the other species infect mice and swine respectively. The second genus, Chlamydophila represents the species Chlamydophila pneumoniae, C. pecorum, C. psittaci, C. abortus, C. felis and C. caviae. Each species target specific hosts and can cause a range of illnesses that vary between host species.
